Red Spider Water Lily makes a beautiful addition to any pond or water garden. A bizarre name for a really wonderful pond plant. If you like things that are weird and wonderful, then you'll love this one. When I first received this back in 1994, I had no idea what to expect, subsequently I was surprised to see the first flowers all streaked and crinkled. Little did I know, this was to be the beginning of a love-hate relationship with this hybrid that I have to this day. Although other hybrids sometimes produce crinkled blooms, this is generally during adverse weather conditions. This one is unique in that it never grows out of it. Yes, Kirk actually selected it for this unique quality. Whether you consider this a good reason to select a new hybrid or not, you have to admit it's something different. A real talking point.
